Relief Stack Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy Version: 1.0.0 | Effective Date: June 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Mechatronics.Studio LLC ("we," "us," or "Licensor") handles information in connection with the Relief Stack software ("Software"). It is consistent with the "Privacy and Analytics" section of the Relief Stack End User License Agreement.

The short version: Relief Stack does its work on your device. We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, or share your photographs, source images, generated artwork, depth maps, or project files, and we do not use your information for advertising or data harvesting.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not operate accounts, servers, or analytics of our own that receive your content. Specifically, we do not collect or receive:

  1. your photographs, source images, camera frames, generated depth maps, relief meshes, or other artwork;
  2. your project files or their contents;
  3. your name, email address, postal address, or contact list;
  4. your payment or financial information, or your Apple Account credentials;
  5. your precise or approximate location;
  6. any advertising or cross-app tracking identifier (such as the IDFA). The Software does not track you across apps or websites operated by other companies.

On-Device Processing

All core processing — depth estimation, shaping, the relief and 3D-model generation, slicing and toolpath previews, and all image and depth editing — runs locally on your device. Source images and camera input are used only to produce your relief, mesh, depth map, or export, and are not sent to us or to any third party by the Software.

Camera

If you use the live-capture feature, the Software accesses your device's camera (including a connected webcam or Continuity Camera) to generate depth maps in real time. Camera frames are processed on-device for that purpose and are not stored or transmitted by the Software unless you choose to save or export the result yourself. You can grant or revoke camera access at any time in your operating system's privacy settings.

Files you choose

When you import an image, model, or other file, or export an STL, 3MF, depth map, G-code, or other output, you select the file or destination yourself through the standard system file dialog. The Software accesses only the files and locations you choose.

iCloud Storage

If you enable iCloud, the Software may store your project files and their associated content — which can include source images and generated artwork — in your own Apple iCloud account so the content is available across your devices. This storage occurs within your Apple account under Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. We do not have access to it. You can control or disable iCloud storage through your device or app settings.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple Account. We do not receive or store your payment information, billing details, or Apple Account credentials. To determine your entitlement (the features unlocked by your tier), the Software uses Apple's StoreKit framework and the App Transaction Identifier, which is unique to your Apple Account and to the Software. The App Transaction Identifier does not include your name, email, payment information, or Apple Account credentials. Apple's handling of your purchase information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Analytics and Diagnostics

We do not embed our own analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking software in the Software. We may review the aggregated analytics that Apple provides through App Store Connect — including Apple's App Analytics and crash and diagnostic reports — to understand how the Software is used and to identify and resolve performance and stability issues.
This data is collected and made available by Apple, not by us, and only from users who have chosen to share analytics and diagnostics through their device settings. The information we receive is aggregated, does not identify you individually, and does not include your photographs, source images, generated artwork, project files, name, email address, payment information, or Apple Account credentials. You can enable or disable the sharing of this data at any time in your device settings, subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy.

Information You Choose to Send Us

If you choose to contact us — for example, to report a bug or request a feature — any information you send is provided voluntarily by you. We use it only to respond to you and to investigate and resolve the issue or request. Please do not include personal or sensitive content (such as images of identifiable individuals, especially children, or unlawful material) in a bug report or feature request. The handling of materials submitted with a bug report or feature request is described in the "Bug Reports, Submitted Content, and Feedback" section of the End User License Agreement.

Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with any third party for that third party's own purposes. The only third party involved in the operation of the Software is Apple, which provides the App Store (purchases and subscriptions), StoreKit, optional iCloud storage in your own account, and the optional aggregated analytics and diagnostic reports described above. Apple processes this information under Apple's own privacy policy, which provides protections consistent with this policy; your interactions with these services are governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy. The Software does not integrate any other third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics providers.

Children's Privacy

The Software is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the Software is used to create files for equipment that can cause injury, any use by a minor must occur only under the supervision of a consenting parent or legal guardian, as described in the End User License Agreement. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect it from children.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because we do not collect or receive your content or other personal information, there is nothing for us to retain, and therefore no developer-held data for you to request that we delete. Your projects, images, and outputs remain on your device and, if you enable iCloud, in your own Apple account, for as long as you keep them there. You control deletion of this content directly: you can delete it at any time from your device and from your iCloud account, and uninstalling the Software removes its on-device data.
You can also withdraw permissions you previously granted at any time — you can revoke camera access, disable iCloud storage, and turn off the sharing of analytics and diagnostics with Apple, each through your operating system or app settings, as described under "Your Choices." The aggregated analytics described above are collected, retained, and controlled by Apple under Apple's policies; you can request access to or deletion of data held by Apple in accordance with Apple's privacy policy.

Security

Your content stays on your device and within Apple's services (the App Store and, if enabled, your own iCloud account). The Software runs inside Apple's application sandbox and does not transmit your content off your device. No method of storage is completely secure, but because the Software does not send your content to us, the security of your content depends primarily on your device and your Apple account.

Your Choices

  1. You can grant or revoke camera access in your operating system's privacy settings.
  2. You can enable or disable iCloud storage in your device or app settings.
  3. You can enable or disable sharing of analytics and diagnostics with Apple in your device settings.
  4. You can delete your projects, images, and outputs at any time from your device and your iCloud account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the version number and effective date above and make the updated policy available within the Software and at the location where it is published. Your continued use of the Software after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
